New sports facilities are welcomed

An application to make major improvements to the sports facilities at Ballymena Academy has been given the go ahead by planners.

The application submitted is for the update of existing gravel and grass pitches to synthetic sand dressed hockey pitches with flood lighting, fencing and spectator areas and the refurbishment to five tennis courts.

The application was approved last week.

Mayor of Ballymena, Councillor Audrey Wales said: “I am delighted, this is a much needed facility in the Academy and it can be used by the public as well.”
