Motorists’ call to reinstate local car park
On the Star Facebook page many angry motorists posted comments expressing their ‘disgrace’ and ‘disgust’ at the decision which its owners said was forced on them.
Ashley Wragg said, “So people losing their jobs only weeks before Christmas, at a time we’re trying to encourage people into the town centre to spend money.”

He said: “This certainly won’t help local traders and regular visitors at all.”
Craig Livingstone commented: “Disgraceful! Good luck in the future to all who worked there.”
June Johnston expressed, “Greed, greed destroying what was once a great town. Label of city laughable. Centre of town is a disgrace, more like a building site. Sad to see.”

Councillor Alexander Redpath, also expressed his sadness.
“Jordan’s have reached the end of the road in terms of their planning appeals,” he said.
“The planning system has undergone change since their original application and it might be worth investigating whether it’s worth another go.
“Consumers who are concerned about accessing the city centre in the future should bear in mind there is an off-street car park further down Antrim Street. Graham Gardens and the Mall also operate private car parks.”
