Morelli's licks opposition at Irish food awards

Morelli's Ice Cream has scooped two top awards at the prestigious Irish Food Awards which took place at the start of this month in Dingle, County Kerry.

The family-owned ice cream brand’s Cherry Frozen Yoghurt was awarded best product in County Derry/Londonderry at Blas na h’Éireann.

The fruity favourite also won Silver in the Sorbets and Frozen Yoghurts category.

The mouth-watering frozen treat combines Clandeboye Estate Yoghurt and Amarena Cherry compote to create a winning flavour.

Blas na h’Éireann, The Irish Food Awards is the biggest competition for Irish produce on the island of Ireland, with 2,500 products entering this year’s competition.

The Awards celebrate and reward the very best of Irish produce and the passionate, driven individuals behind it.

With gold, silver and bronze medals awarded across over 100 food and drink categories, the Awards focus solely on taste with winners chosen as a result of blind taste tests by Ireland’s top food experts.

Arnaldo Morelli, who heads up the family business and collected both awards alongside his brother Marino, said: “I am so proud that Morelli’s has been recognised at such an important award ceremony in the Irish food industry.
