Meaty accolade for Limavady butcher
Glenn’s Butchers picked up a string of accolades at the recent All Ireland Sausage and Burger Awards, organised by Butchery Excellence Ireland.
Glenn’s finished runner-up overall, second only to the winning butchers from Donegal Town, and claimed a string of awards - including a gold win for ‘Spicy Beef and Mozzarella Meatballs’, a silver award for the Beef Burgers and bronze runner up for their continental ‘Authentic Toulouse Sausage’, beef sausages and traditional vegetable roll.

Hide AdButchery Excellence Ireland CEO Rhonda Montgomery didn’t mince her words as she praised the local butchers: “Glenn’s is our best up-and-coming butcher, without a doubt. The overall winner was from Donegal Town but Glenn’s clinched the runner-up spot.”
Open to all independent butchers across the Provinces of Ireland, the All Ireland Sausage and Burger Butchery Awards reinforce the quality and heritage of the wide variety of sausages and burgers that are provided by butchers here in Ireland.
The Butchery Excellence scheme run a variety of competitions open to butchers across the Province and the All Ireland Sausage & Burger Butchery Awards received over 140 entries.

The All Ireland Sausage and Burger Butchery Awards is the first in a series of competitions that Butchery Excellence Ireland will host this year.
Towards the end of 2016, grand prix champions from each of the BES competitions will compete in the ‘All Ireland Champion of Champions’ event in order to find the ‘All Ireland Butcher of the Year 2016’.
Butchery Excellence Ireland, based in Aughnacloy, was developed to help butchers across the country keep on top of changes to legislation, food safety, food labelling, new product development, personal development, training and marketing. Butchery Excellence Ireland is now a 32 county organisation and is the ‘Real Voice for Irish Butchers’.
The overall winner was EWS Butchers from Donegal Town.
