Make your own TVand upload it to Big Screen: Council

People in Londonderry will later this year be invited to create their own television and upload it to a huge open air cinema screen, which has become operational in the centre of the city this week again, after a short period off-line.

A recently-appointed service provider will manage the content to ensure it is appropriate for public viewing.

Karan Leonard, festival and event organiser with Derry City Council, said: “The next phase is hugely exciting for the Council. Basically it will allow the public to create their own content and upload videos to be shown on the screen, thus making the screen totally interactive and bringing it to life with the public in the city.”

Phase one of the content plan, which will see footage from Council organised events such as the Legenderry Maritime Festival, the City of Derry Jazz Festival, the Banks of the Foyle Hallowe’en Carnival and the Christmas Festive time campaign, broadcast on the ‘Big Screen,’ is being rolled out now.

This phase will also include promotional material from cultural venues.

“We are delighted the Big Screen is fully operational again and able to showcase all of our marketing collateral and promote the wealth of events and initiatives that are happening in the city,” said Ms Leonard.

Cultural venues or companies interested in being part of the Big Screen are encouraged to contact Donna Farren at [email protected] for more information.
