Major Women in Business award for Gillian

LISBURN-born National Museums’ Director of Marketing, Communications and Trading Gillian McLean has been awarded the prestigious Women in Business 2012 Award, in association with Invest Northern Ireland, at a recent ceremony in Belfast’s Ramada Hotel.

Ms McLean was awarded the honour for her outstanding leadership in the integrated marketing campaign for the Age of the Dinosaur exhibition at the Ulster Museum last year.

Women in Business chief executive Roseanne Kelly says the success of the exhibition was due to Gillian and her team’s determination and commitment.

“Gillian McLean successfully led the development of a highly engaging, integrated marketing and sales campaign for the Age of the Dinosaur exhibition.

“This included ambitious targets for visitor numbers, self-generated income and market share in the highly competitive visitor attraction market during peak season. Despite huge challenges caused by reduced and limited budgets as well as a highly competitive market place, local and international visitor levels exceeded all expectations during the summer with each month achieving new records, reaching a whopping 100,000 in August 2012 alone and an overall 98% satisfaction in the museum’s exit survey, making the Age of the Dinosaur the National Museums’ most successful marketing and sales campaign to date.”

This Women in Business award is the last in a series of outstanding achievements for Gillian, who is the proud recipient of the CIM Marketing Director of the Year in 2010 and has recently been invited to join the Northern Ireland Government Affairs Group.
