Eyewitness reports suggest the alarm in Dunnes went off and police said Fire Service were at the scene.

They said they understood that smoke was coming from a generator on the premises, but a spokesperson for the Fire Service said it was a “false alarm”.

When the Mail called Meadowlane, we were told the shopping centre was evacuated for a period of around 20mins, but that business has now returned to normal.
