Latharna club hosts dog show

Latharna Canine and Dog Training Club recently organised a very successful all-breed open show under licence of the Irish Kennel Club at the Blue Circle Cruising and Sailing Club, Magheramorne.

Best in show was a beagle puppy owned by A McKiernan of Ballycastle, and the reserve a golden retriever owned by F and E Archibald of Ballymoney.

The besst puppy was a German shepherd owned by Mr, Mrs and Miss Dunn from Kircubbin and the reserve a miniature pinscher owned by Ms A McNally from Dundrod.

Local judges were Margaret Williamson and George Anthony.

Local exhibitors who took best-of-breed awards were Sammy Lynch with his American akita, Adrian Magill with his smooth fox terrier and Kathy Lowe with her Tibetan spaniel.

The best-in-show judge, Kate Harbinson, on behalf of the club presented two cheques for £150 each to representatives of Dogs Trust and the Larne branch of the Assisi Animal Sanctuary. These were the proceeds ferom the Carnfunnock Super Dog event held at the end of April.
