He said today that he has been approached by lead volunteers at the Fort Centre who have informed him that yet again horses have been attacked for the second time in one week in fields adjacent to the centre.

“These attacks are beyond comprehension. Everyone at the Fort Centre and throughout the locality are extremely angry that these attacks have taken place,” said Councillor McFalone.

“The horses at the Centre are professionally trained and range in size ensuring that riders of all abilities can be accommodated.

“The people of Maghera are demanding an end to such attacks on the horses which provide an important community and therapeutic service for children living with disability. Parents and guardians should ensure where their children are, who they are with and what what they are doing.

“These attacks are distressing, they are anti-community and I am urging those responsible to cease these harmful actions.”
