Larne Council staff took an average 14 days on sick leave

A marked increase in absenteeism at the former Larne Borough Council has been highlighted in the Local Government Auditor’s Report 2015.

Last year, the authority’s absenteeism rate rose by 2.61 to a total of 14.64 days on average per employee. This represents the second-biggest rise out of all 26 former councils, just behind Ballymoney.

Meanwhile, auditor Louise Mason stated in her report that she was not satisfied Larne Council had sufficient proper arrangements in place to ensure economy, efficiency and effectiveness in the use of resources

She added: “My concerns related to matters of asset management, financial planning and reporting, procurement, risk and workforce management.”
