Lagan Valley midwife retires after 34 years
Frances Hogg has been a dedicated midwife in Lagan Valley caring for thousands of women and their babies as well as mentoring many student midwives.
Frances rose through the ranks to the post of Midwifery Sister and worked both in the hospital and out in the community ensuring mums got the very best care.

Hide AdZoe Boreland, Head of Midwifery said: “She is a much admired colleague and an asset to the maternity team within South Eastern Trust.
“She will be sorely missed but we wish her well for a long and happy retirement.”
Frances was overwhelmed by the beautiful retirement party her colleagues held for her in the Lagan Valley Midwifery Led Unit on Thursday March 12.
All the staff in the Maternity Unit were sad to see their friend leave but happy to celebrate Frances’ excellent career.

Close support continues after your baby is born, usually with a short stay in the unit following the birth, with continuity provided by midwives following discharge.
