Keep drains clear offats this Christmas

NI Water is appealing to Carrick householders to help keep their drains clear this Christmas by not putting their turkey fat, oil and grease down the kitchen sink.

In the last two years, NI Water has dealt with 40,000 blockages in the sewers costing £5 million.

The body says that fats should be allowed to cool and solidify, and then scraped into the rubbish bin or poured into a suitable container and taken to a council recycling centre.
