“Given that OFMDFM’s track record has been one of inefficiency, indecision and incompetency at the centre of the devolved institutions, many people in Foyle will be extremely sceptical as to what it is likely to be able to deliver,” she said.

“After all, this is the same OFMDFM which promised to deliver 5,000 jobs at a redeveloped Maze site, which was supposed to spend £80 million set aside to alleviate poverty and deprivation through the Social Investment Fund, which was also meant to make £12 million available for childcare.

“And which publicly committed to build a world class emergency services training facility outside Cookstown. None of which have happened.

“We have had nine years of DUP/Sinn Féin control of the OFMDFM, over two full Assembly mandates. The story has been one of dysfunctionality and high profile failures.

“What the Foyle constituency needs is inward investment and job creation and there is no doubt that the Ebrington site has the potential to deliver real benefits.

“However, the fact that responsibility has been handed to OFMDFM with its track record of failure, will do little to inspire local confidence.

“This simply cannot be as good as it gets.”
