Jordan joins JLS for charity concert

Londonderry teenager and Britain’s Got Talent finalist Jordan O’Keefe will join JLS and The Voice Winner, Andrea Begley on stage at a special charity concert this summer, Pop on the Dock at Belfast’s Titanic Slipway.

Newry will also host JLS and Jordan at their very own Pop in the Park concert on Thursday 1st August getting Newry’s Páirc Esler stadium jumping! Both charity concerts are running as part of a week-long series of events taking place during the 2013 World Police and Fire Games, of which NICFC is an official charity partner.

The charity offers practical and emotional support to local children and young people with cancer and is set to open the doors of its brand new therapeutic short break centre Daisy Lodge next spring. Money raised through the concert will go towards this £3m build project, which when open will be able to offer free short breaks to 500 families per year affected by cancer.

Jordan (19) from Drumahoe, wowed the Britain’s Got Talent judges with his singing and guitar skills last year and has accrued a cult following as a result.

He said: ‘’Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children is a cause that is so close to my heart after my experience working with Oscar Knox, the little boy from Glengormley diagnosed with a rare form of cancer - neuroblastoma . The bravery and determination that these children show is what has inspired me in my career so far and I am really grateful that NICFC has asked me to help out.’’

In addition to the concerts, JLS, Jordan and Andrea will make the time to meet local children and young adults living with cancer at a special music workshop.

With fans recently disappointed by One Direction’s decision to leave Belfast out of their upcoming world tour, the concerts will give JLS a fantastic opportunity to delight pop music lovers. It will also be a great warm up performance for their Greatest Hits Farewell Tour at the end of 2013. Up-and-coming Portadown band Microlip and Dublin’s Key West are also set to perform at the events showcasing the best of local music.
