Hook, line and stinker!

The Independent representative claimed not only are the fishermen losing hooks and lines but they are in the wrong plaice at the wrong time by using the upper part of the beach as “a toilet”.

He made the comments regarding discussion of plans to keep beaches tidy and free from dog dirt.

Cllr McDonnell said he would not like to see the dogs penalised and humans excluded!

Ulster Unionist councillor Joan Baird said it is important that dog faeces is lifted by responsible dog owners especially as north Antrim is a tourist area.

Cllr Seamus Blaney (Independent) said people can be far messier than dogs as nine out of ten people will lift up after their pets but he said many families often leave children’s nappies lying on beaches.
