Guildhall footway to be abandoned

ROADS Service is set to abandon 134 square metres of footway outside the Guildhall in Londonderry city centre.

The Department of Regional Development (DRD) has provided notice of an Abandonment Order at Shipquay Place having formed the opinion that an area of road there is not necessary for road traffic.

It proposes making an order under Article 68 of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993, the effect of which would be to abandon 134 square metres of footway fronting the Guildhall, Shipquay Place.

People can view the road proposed to be abandoned at the Roads Service Londonderry office at 1 Crescent road or at the Derry City Council offices from January 4, 2011, to February 18, 2011.
