Good Morning Larne donation

East Antrim MLA Alastair Ross has welcomed the news that Asda is to donate more that £5000 to the ‘Good Morning Larne’ project as part of the supermarket’s 50th Birthday celebrations.

Mr Ross said: “It is fantastic that as part of Asda’s 50th Birthday celebrations, the Asda Foundation is donating over half a million pounds to good causes across the UK with the ‘Good Morning Larne’ project receiving some £5330.

“This may seem like a modest sum, but can make a massive difference to small groups and will support the continuation of a vital service to elderly and vulnerable people in and around Larne by allowing them to buy new IT, tables and chairs.

“Many people will be familiar with the ‘Good Morning’ project, which now operates in towns across the Province, and the work that volunteers do to ensure that the most vulnerable in our community can stay in their homes whilst receiving the support and piece of mind a daily check up call provides. “The type of systems used means that the caller will also have all the personal family and medical contact details for the recipient should it be needed.

“It is important that we also recognise the support from organisations such as Asda who donate considerable sums of money into the local community for local benefit, particularly at times when other funding streams for community groups are more difficult to come by.”
