Lurgan Park is in the running for the ‘People’s Choice – Site of the Year Award’ which is an annual online vote giving people the power to decide which Green Flag park in the whole of the UK should receive this coveted title.

“Lurgan Park has the ability to win this award hands down because of its sheer beauty alone – but we need your help!” urged the Mayor of Craigavon, Alderman Stephen Moutray.

“With its family friendly atmosphere and stunning features such as the famous lime tree avenue, the beautiful lake and the historical Colebrookdale fountain, we know we have a winning park but we need people to vote. It’s easy to do and will literally take a minute of your time, so help Lurgan Park get the recognition it deserves!”

Lurgan Park was the first park in Ireland to gain the prestigious Green Flag Award in 2008 which is a national standard for parks and green spaces and was a real coup for this busy and breathtaking Craigavon Borough Council run Park. It is now one of over 1,000 Green Flag Parks throughout the UK.

Attracting around 2,000 visitors every weekend who come to enjoy the 259 acres with all its unique features and fun events that run all year round, Lurgan Park truly is a ‘people’s park’.

At last count Lurgan Park was in sixth place for the whole of the UK and top for Northern Ireland - the placings have now been removed from the site (we're thinking to keep the final result a secret until it's announced).

There will be a winner from each region as well as an overall UK winner and these will be announced at a national event held in London in September – so get voting for Lurgan Park.

The closing date is the first week in August.
