‘Bag it and Bin it’ campaign reminder
East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson is urging the public to ensure they do not put household waste down their toilets.
The call comes after a marked increase in ‘out of sewer’ flooding across Northern Ireland, with many incidences caused by blockages due to the flushing of items such as nappies or bathroom wipes.
“I am taking this opportunity to remind the public that the only items that should be flushed are human waste and toilet roll. If everyone complied with this it would reduce the risk of ‘out of sewer’ flooding. Other items should be bagged and binned,” Mr Dickson said.
