East Antrim scouts on target for archery final
The scouts, from Larne; Carrickfergus; Whitehead; Ballyclare; Greenisland and Islandmagee shot a keenly contested elimination round in the home venue of Fifth Carrickfergus Scout Troop (St Colman’s).
After a tie between Whitehead scout Ross Thompson and Islandmagee scout Iain Dick, Ross hit a winning score of 60 to defeat Iain and become individual champion of the district.

Hide AdIslandmagee won the team competition, Seventh Larne were runners-up with Fourth Carrickfergus (St. Nicholas’) taking third place. Islandmagee and Larne now go to Gortatole Activity Centre, on March 9 2014, to represent South East Antrim in the Northern Ireland Championship.
Speaking at the end of the tournament, Anne Nicholson, assistant district commissioner for scouts, congratulated the winning teams and thanked the scout leader of Fifth Carrickfergus Scout Troop, Vic Wooton and Stephen Stanley, assistant scout leader, First Islandmagee Scout Troop for organising and hosting the event.
