Deaths in community

The death took place peacefully at her home on October 23 of Thelma Haire, Lower Toberhewny Lane, Lurgan.

She was the wife of Robbie and mother of David and Peter. Regretted by daughter-in-law Cynthia, grandchildren Toby and Mia and the entire family circle.

Her funeral service was in Lurgan Baptist Church last Thursday with interment in Lurgan Cemetery.

Ernest Herron

Ernest Herron died peacefully at hospital on October 22. Late of Laurelhill House Residential Home, Lisburn, he was formerly of Beechwood Crescent, Moira.

He was the husband of Sheila, father of Alison, Lance and Shaun, father-in-law of Mike, Angela and Julie, and grandfather to eight grandchildren.

His funeral was on Monday to St John’s Parish Church followed by burial in the adjoining churchyard.

Margaret Elizabeth Moffitt

The death took place peacefully at hospital on October 23 of Margaret Eilzabeth (Beth) Moffitt, 110 Gilford Road, Lurgan.

She was the cousin of Margaret.

Her funeral was last Thursday to Queen Street Methodist Church with interment in Lurgan Cemetery.

Derek George Bateman

The death took place peacefully at hospital on October 25 of Derek George Bateman, husband of Gladys, Main Street, Moira.

He was the elder son of the late Frederick William and Maud Muriel Bateman, late of the Forest, Moira.

Remembered by his wife Gladys, sister Elsie, sisters-in-law Maureen and Winifred, nephews and nieces at home and abroad.

His funeral was on Saturday to St John’s Parish Church with interment in the adjoining churchyard.

Mary Jane Black

The death took place peacefully at Mahon Hall Nursing Home of Mary Jane Black, wife of the late George, late of Ardboe Drive, Lurgan.

She was the mother of Maureen and Barry.

Remembered by her daughter Maureen and son-in-law Jack, son Barry and daughter-in-law Carol, grandsons Peter and wife Christine and Timothy and wife Leanne and great grandchildren Matthew and Caleb.

Dorothy McClean

Dorothy McClean died at hospital on October 25. She was the wife of the late Leonard and mother of Mildred and Jeffrey, late of Coronation Place, Gibson’s Hill.

Her funeral was on Sunday to Newmills Presbyterian Church followed by interment in the adjoining burying ground.

Also regretted by daughter-in-law Mary and grandchildren Kerrie and Kyle and family circle.

Rachel Topping

The death took place peacefully at Aughnacloy House on October 27 of Rachel Topping, wife of the late Norman, formerly of Coronation Place, Gibson’s Hill, Lurgan.

She was the mother of Lynda and the late Norman. Also remembered by sons-in-law Austin and Roy, grandchildren Cathy, Lisa, Graeme and Gillian and great granddaughter Robyn and the family circle. Her funeral was to Newmills Presbyterian Church with interment in the burying ground.

Margaret Atkinson

Margaret Atkinson, formerly of Kilwilke Road, Lurgan, died peacefully at Craigavon Area Hospital on October 28.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Atkinson and aunt of Philomena, Diane, Jeanette and David. Her funeral was on Tuesday to St Peter’s Church with interment in St Colman’s Cemetery.

Margaret Halforty

The death took place peacefully on October 27 of Margaret (Peggy) Halforty, nee McStay, wife of Kevin, formerly of Manor Park, Lurgan.

She was the mother of Colum, Desmond and Pauline, grandmother of Marianne, Stewart, Grainne, Aidan, Damian, Neal and Colin and great grandmother of Orlaith and Roisin.She was the sister of Kathleen, Harry, Donal, and the late May, Lily, Sean and Patsy. Also remembered by daughter-in-law Marie, son-in-law Brian and family circle.

Her funeral took place on Tuesday to St Paul’s Church with interment in St Colman’s Cemetery.

Eileen Loughran

Eileen Loughran, nee Toman, died peacefully at home on October 28.

She was the wife of the late Bobby, 83 Kilwilke Road, Lurgan, and mother of Kevin, Fergal, Sean, Ann, Raymond and Terence.

Also regretted by her daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the entire family circle.

Her funeral was on Wednesday to St Peter’s Church with interment in St Colman’s Cemetery.
