Oil tank fire

Police at Strand Road are appealing for information about an oil tank fire in the Shantallow area.

The fire in Carnhill Estate was reported to police by the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service at 6.35am today, Friday, April 4.

A number of residents, including several elderly people, were moved from their homes by police. Six people were accommodated at a rest centre at Templemore Leisure Centre

An investigation has begun to determine the cause of the fire. Information can be given to the CID at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, information can be given to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
