Illegal cigarettes
Police in Londonderry seized a substantial quantity of illegal cigarettes from a mobile shop in the Carnhill area yesterday, Tuesday 25th September.
The illegal cigarettes are estimated to be worth £8,000 and have been passed to HM Revenue and Customs for investigation.
PSNI Neighbourhood Sergeant Joe George said, “These cigarettes – which are sold cheaply – represent a financial loss to law-abiding retailers, who sell cigarettes legally. We have also received reports that cigarettes are being sold to young people which pose risks to their health. I urge anyone with information to contact their local Neighbourhood Officer or report it to Police at Strand Road station.
