Councillor Wilson, who recently spoke to a ‘Young At Heart’ group in Holy Trinity church on crime statistics in the borough, said: “Overall, crime has steadily decreased over the past five years.

“Across the borough, violence against the person is down, as are vehicle and drug offences.

“Weapon offences are down by a quarter, and there have been small decreases in fraud, burglary and theft. Overall, it is a fairly positive outlook for the borough.”

“It is also positive to note that there is a correlation between PCSP funding initiatives and a decrease in crime.

“This shows us that the work of the PCSP is providing real results in our communities by providing local prevention and intervention solutions to local problems.”
