Community service after he assaulted
a police officer

A Lurgan man was given 160 hours community service last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

At a previous court Adam Graham (18), Kiln Lodge, Lurgan, admitted disorderly behaviour, assaulting a police officer and obstructing a police officer on August 7 this year. The case had been adjourned so that a short sentence report could be obtained.

Craigavon Magistrates Court heard that police received a report of two males fighting in William Street, Lurgan at 12.50am.

When they arrived members of the public were restraining the two males.

Police asked Graham his name and he said ‘f—k off’ and pushed an officer on the shoulder with both hands.

He continued to shout ‘f—kers’ and had to be restrained face down on the ground. A handcuff was placed on his right wrist and he placed his left hand under his body.

When he was walking towards the police car he began kicking out and leg restraints had to be used.

Graham was sentenced to 160 hours concurrently on each of the charges.
