Community organisations awarded grant funding
Premises grants were awarded to Academy Sports Club in Mallusk (£2,270) for its “operation as a sports club as priority grows to develop the facility as a community and sports hub”, and Women’s Aid Newtownabbey (£3,400) to help it maintain its office and support centre base in the local area. Mossley Heritage and Development Association will receive £2,623 to help it “manage and maintain a multi-purpose building for use by local residents.”
Festivals grants were awarded to Ballyclare Chamber of Trade (£5,000) for its “Christmas extravaganza”, and Cloughfern District LOL (£2,265) for a “festival showcasing regalia and historical items relating to the loyal orders.”
Other successful applicants included Barnardo’s Newtownabbey Family Connections (£1,494), the Bytes Project (£4,700) and Ballyclare Widows Group (£1,203).
