Coleraine Coastguard wins leadership award

A COASTGUARD Rescue Officer from the Coleraine team has won a prestigious leadership award.

This annual competition brings together Coastguard Rescue Teams from all over Ireland and aims to test all of their skills. Realistic scenarios are created to test the teams’ response and require them to use all of their ability in the following areas: map reading, rope rescue work, confined space rescue, water rescue, first aid and driving skills.

Nikki scored consistently highly in all of these events, and was presented with a silver trophy by Lady Sylvia Hermon. She was also congratulated by Chris Reynolds, the Director of the Irish Coast Guard, and by Richard Newell, Rescue Co-ordination Centre Manager for Belfast Coastguard.
