Bready farmers info event

FARMERS and their families can find out more about a range of grants to support skills training at an information roadshow scheduled to take place in the Sollus Centre, Bready, today Thursday, December 2.

The roadshow will provide more information on the Farm Family Options Skills Training Programme, managed by Countryside Agri Rural Partnership. Financial assistance is available towards a wide range of on-farm and off-farm training courses including: Agri related courses such as hoof-trimming, chainsaw and AI; Vehicle and heavy plant courses; Business related skills courses such as book-keeping, web design and marketing.

Over one thousand farm family members from across Northern Ireland have been successful in applying for training grants.

The roadshow will take place from 6pm-9pm and will offer advice and assistance on identifying eligible courses, what grants are available, and also explain the application process. A range of other support and training organisations have been invited to attend.

Closing date for applications is 5pm on January 14, 2011 for courses completed on or before June 30, 2011.

The Farm Family Options Programme is supported under Axis 1 of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD).
