Ben and friends raise the roof - and £2,340

GLENARM-born singer songwriter Ben Glover and his band the Earls went down a storm at the Halfway House on Friday night.

Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, Ben is enjoying a successful musical career on the other side of the Atlantic. He has just released a new album, Through the Noise, Through the Night, and combined a trip home with the opportunity to take part in a major fundraising drive at his old school.

The charity concert, organised by Seaview Primary School PTA, also attracted a surprise guest, Anthony Toner.

The event raised the fantastic total of 2,340 which will be divided equally between Seaview PTA who are raising funds for a new mobile computer suite for the school and NI Spinal Injuries Unit which was set up by former Seaview pupil Peter Steele.

PTA chairwoman, Ellen Petticrew, described it as "a wonderful, successful evening".

"Everyone who attended had an enjoyable night and it was simply brilliant to have raised such a large amount, so thank you to all those who supported us," she said.
