Ballymoney woman in new Age NI ad campaign

As part of Age NI’s Charity of the Year partnership with the Publicity Association of NI (PANI) 6 teams of graphic design and marketing students from the University of Ulster competed through PANI’s education programme to develop an advertising campaign for the charity.

They were tasked with promoting the Age NI Advice Service which currently receives 10,000 calls a year from older people, their families and carers who need support.

Age NI Chief Executive, Linda Robinson commented: “The winning creative from students Elliot, Marleta, Rebecca and Lucia (supported by Belfast-based advertising agency RLA) focuses on the fact that ‘age is just a number’, something we hear all the time from people in later life.

“We’re absolutely delighted that the stars of the campaign are actual Age NI volunteers who support the charity in so many different ways. It’s wonderful to see Indu and her fellow volunteers demonstrating how later life is there to be loved. They are all active and engaged in the work of Age NI as volunteers in our Consultative Forum, as Peer Facilitators, and as Age NI Information Ambassadors.

“They encapsulate the potential and opportunity that later life has to offer. They convey the independence that our Advice Service can help more people across NI to achieve. Ultimately, we hope that our advertising campaign will encourage more people to contact the Age NI Advice Service so that we can help more people to love later life. Calls are free and our local advisors offer independent and confidential support. Age really is just a number – and our Advice Service number is there to help older people all over NI to live life to the full.”

Indu added: ‘It was an absolute pleasure to be involved in this advertising campaign. We had lots of fun at the photo shoot and there are a few behind-the-scenes videos on Age NI’s youtube page too!

For me growing older has brought so many new opportunities like the volunteering work I do for Age NI’s Consultative Forum, and of course even being a model for a day! As Linda says, it’s so important to ensure that we all live in a world where everyone can enjoy later life.
