Academy Anthem Row

A MEETING yesterday afternoon (Monday) between the principal and pupils at Banbridge Academy failed to reach agreement over a dispute involving the playing of the National Anthem.

It is understood a number of pupils have been angered that the National Anthem was not included in this year’s recent Remembrance Day Service at the school and have launched a petition in response.

It’s believed around 500 pupils have already added their names and the district council chairman and local DUP politicians have become involved in the controversy.
