FANCY a night of fantastic line dancing...and charity fundraising?

Then why not go along to Ballymoney British Legion on Friday, November 30th at 9pm for a great night of toe-tapping and foot-stomping line dancing in aid of Macmillan Cancer.

Admission is £5 including supper.

History talks

The final talk in Ballymoney Borough Arts Committee’s popular Local History Talks Series for 2012 takes place on Thursday 29 November when local historian S Alex Blair looks at KK McArthur and his Olympic Marathon Victory of 1912.

Local hero, Kennedy Kane McArthur’s magnificent victory in the marathon race at the Stockholm Olympics in 1912 has been well documented this summer. As the centenary year draws to a close, Mr Blair will reflect on the Dervock man’s outstanding achievement and on his life story, and with the advantage of having met and talked with McArthur’s sister and niece many years ago, he will try and get as close as possible to the real McArthur. The talk takes place at 8pm in Ballymoney Town Hall. Admission £2 includes refreshments.

Christmas Fayre

THE annual Christmas Fayre organised by Mullans Independent LOL No34 and Finvoy No Surrender Club of Apprentice Boys of Derry will take place in Keers Memorial Orange Hall in Finvoy on Friday, December 14th at 7.30pm.

There will be the usual stalls with a wide variety of goods on offer. Tombola, large hampoer and other prizes up for grabs. Admission £2 including supper. Everyone welcome.

Switch-on

STRANOCUM and District Community Association and Stranocum and District Development Group are holding their Christmas lights switch-on on Friday, November 30th at 7.30pm.

Starting at the entrance to Haw Bank where there will be entertainment from Bushvalley Primary School choir followed by the big switch-on.

Everyone will make their way down to the Community Hall for a festive supper.

Children will then have the opportunity to visit Santa’s grotto.

‘Shave off’

THE Causeway Fundraising Group for Macmillan Cancer Support are holding a ‘Shave off and Disco’ on Friday, November 30 at Ballymoney Rugby Club from 8pm.

Compare and DJ will be DJ Davy Black (Spectrum Entertainment). Admission £5. Snacks will be provided. A raffle will also take place.

Already lots of local men have agreed to grow facial hair in the month of November and have it shaved off at the event. They have got sponsor sheets and hope to raise lots of money for the Cancer Support charity.

The ‘Shave off’ will be carried out by the Management and staff of Hair Express, Silversprings, Ballymoney. If you would like to take part simply call into the shop for a sponsorship form.
