Life and Times of Broughshane to be unveiled

The unique ‘Life and Times of Broughshane’ project will be unveiled when the ladies of the village WI mark their 75th anniversary with a special ‘Crafts, Cake and Community’ event.

Venue for the celebration will be Saint Patrick’s Church Hall, Broughshane on Saturday, September 5 from 12 noon to 4pm.

The event will take the form of an exhibition of the work of the ladies in Broughshane WI and will include a wide range of craft items, floral displays, memorabilia, and the award winning 2014 scrapbook. It will also feature the first public viewing of the ‘Life and Times of Broughshane’ Project. Funding for this Project was secured through the Big Lottery Fund and enabled the ladies to source tutors and materials to create a collection of craftwork, interpretations of buildings, landmarks and scenes in local community. Admission to the exhibition is free and open to everyone.

Members will be on hand to explain some of the intricate craft work, including information on future craft classes.

The Women’s Institute organisation is of course renowned for the baking skills of its members and visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to purchase a traditional WI Afternoon Tea at just £5 per person. The event promises to be a great start to the 75th year of Broughshane WI.
