Kilrea artist in the frame with Culloden exhibition

The eclectic exhibition runs from Thursday evening through to Sunday. Vibrant depictions of iconic Northern Ireland landmarks are set to be featured together with portrayals of traditional musicians and dancers.

Adrian told the Times: “This will be my third year exhibiting at the Culloden. I have employed a range of techniques to create these news pieces – using palette knives, finger painting, lazy brushwork and applying paint directly from the tube to canvas to build up textures.

“I hope visitors enjoy the diversity of subject matter on view, especially the contemporary takes on very familiar landmarks.”

Adrian, who juggles his artistic career with doctoral research at Queen’s University, has recently been awarded support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s Creative Industries Innovation Fund to bring his distinctive depictions of Ulster life, landmarks and musical traditions to art lovers in the USA and the Republic of Ireland.

Having staged a number of large-scale solo exhibitions across Northern Ireland in recent years, this funding boost will deliver a marketing campaign aimed at promoting his work to Irish diaspora living in the United States and a high profile launch exhibition of his work in Dublin over St Patrick’s weekend next year.

Admission to the Culloden exhibition is free.
