Bushmills celebrating Christmas

Prepare to be dazzled by the switch on of the Christmas lights in Bushmills on Wednesday 5th December.

Festivities will get under way @7.00 pm with a magic show in the Square. Santa will arrive on an unusual vehicle shortly afterwards welcomed in by music and carol singing. Also happening on the night will be Santa’s Grotto in the Post Office, face-painting, and mince pies, mulled wine and other delicacies will be served in the Mill Rest.

A number of local traders will also be contributing to the night’s festivities including a BBQ by Kane Family Butcher’s, the Distillers Arms, Scotch Arms and Bushmills Distillery.

Alan Summers, Secretary of Bushmills Village Forum said: “The village has had an outstanding year with many community celebrations such as the Olympic Torch, the Jubilee Celebrations and then the Salmon and Whiskey Festival. We want to finish it off with the best Christmas Lights Switch-On ever.”

Rev Canon George Graham said: “We hope this will be a delightful family/community event that always succeeds in ringing in the warmth and joy of Christmas.”

Derwyn Brewster, Chairperson of Bushmills Residents & Environmental Forum who have taken the lead in organising this event said: “The organising of this event has been another great example of different groups working together in the village including our churches, community groups, the Traders Association, councillors, and the Village Forum. This will stand us in good stead for the challenges and opportunities facing Bushmills in 2013!”
