Deputy Mayor, Councillor Timothy Gaston said: “We’re delighted to introduce a new archery activity to Carnfunnock Country Park which compliments the range of activities and attractions already on offer. Archery at recent events proved incredibly popular with visitors so it highlighted an opportunity for a more regular arrangement.

“County Antrim Archery Centre applied for the franchise and met the high standards we set in terms of service provision, training standards, event support and qualifications. We hope that this new partnership will actively encourage more visitors to get out and about to enjoy the outdoors, discover a new challenge and have a fun experience at Carnfunnock!”

‘Have A Go’ archery opportunities will be available from 11.00am – 5.30pm at weekends until September, with all bookings subject to ground and weather conditions. Group bookings can also be taken for corporate events and activities, birthday parties and general outings to Carnfunnock.

Robin Brown, Head Coach at County Antrim Archery Centre said: “We are a newly established club within the Larne area and are delighted to be given the opportunity to supply archery within Carnfunnock Country Park. Archery is fun for all ages and abilities.

Participants can enhance their hand-eye-co-ordination and develop their upper body strength with the help of our fully qualified instructors, who will be more than happy to teach the ancient art of archery. We look forward to working with the Council and hope to see everyone having a go with us soon.”
