“At a time when teachers are being told to strip at their back doors after a day’s work and shower including washing their hair for fear of carrying a virus home despite extreme social distancing measures put in place in their schools, our workers are being denied simple safety measures. Are we lesser value people or why is this being allowed?”

A spokesperson for Thompson Aero Seating said: “Thompson Aero Seating (TAS) is closely monitoring and following Government guidance concerning the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, the business remains open and operating, however this is a fluid situation and is being reviewed continuously.

“As per the Prime Minister’s guidance on 23rd March, where possible, employees are currently working remotely from home. Due to the nature of our manufacturing business however, working remotely is simply not possible for all employees and therefore production-based employees are still required on site.

“TAS has implemented safeguarding measures across all sites, in line with Government and NHS guidelines.

“The company is keeping the matter under constant review and is in full dialogue with our employee representatives.”

When asked about social distancing for employees, a spokesperson said: “Thompson Aero Seating has implemented a number of social distancing practices within its operations where reasonably and practically possible. These include increasing spacing between operators and redesigning our facility layout.”
