Two art exhibitions showing

Two fantastic new exhibitions open at the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, Limavady on Friday, November 9, both showcasing the creative talent in the borough.

In her exhibition The Beauty of Human Frailty, locally based artist Glenda Rolston uses portraiture to examine notions of identity and self, her work shifting between abstraction and figuration as a means of communicating what it means to be human and the uncertainty we may face in our lives.

Glenda recently graduated from the University of Ulster Belfast, specialising in painting after completing her degree at the North West Regional College. She has exhibited in both group and solo shows.

It is fitting then that Glenda’s exhibition is complemented by a showcase of students’ work who are currently attending the local campus of the North West Regional College. The Exhibition II represents a body of work by eight final year students from the University of Ulster Associate Bachelor degree in Fine and Applied Arts. Exhibiting artists are Deirdre Doherty, Mary McGonigle, Clare McLaughlin, Leanne McLaughlin, Justyna Sobocinska, Patricia Spokes, Carl Taylor and Sharon Walsh and the show spans diverse art forms including mixed media, sculpture, painting and craft.

Both shows continue until December 29, 2012 and everyone is welcome to attend the preview on Thursday, November 8 at 7pm.
