Colin Neighbourhood Partnership and Partisan Productions have joined forces to present I Never See The Prettiest Thing, a new play exploring the causes and consequences of suicide in a community with one of the highest rates in Belfast.

At times funny, moving, and challenging, I Never See The Prettiest Thing will run from Tuesday March 25- Saturday March 29 in Brook Activity Centre, Twinbrook – in the very heart of the community that its narrative deals with.

The play uses real testimonies from real people about their own personal experiences and the devastating aftermath that suicide has on both a family and the wider community. With a combination of drama and song the play attempts to highlight many of the misconceptions about suicide as well as raise awareness about its prevalence amongst young men in Belfast and beyond.

Director Fintan Brady of Partisan Productions, alongside actors and workers in the Colin area of Twinbrook, Poleglass, Lagmore and Kilwee have endeavoured to bring dramatic life and positivity to a difficult and sensitive subject without ever condescending or negating the crippling impact of suicide. I Never See the Prettiest Thing is based on an intensive research process involving individuals, families and community groups in the Colin area and beyond.

The show is suitable for 14 years and older. Group bookings welcome, please contact John Paul Russell at Colin Neighbourhood Partnership on 9062 3813 or email [email protected] for further information or to book tickets.
