Roll up, roll up for the Great Carmo

This year for the first time, the Lyric has joined forces with world class children's theatre company Cahoots NI and we will bring the show direct to your school.

This enchanting theatre experience, written and directed by Paul Bosco McEneaney, features special effects, live music, magic, circus, dance, illusion and is a delightful story about fun, friendship and determination, ideal for Pre-School and Key Stage 1 Primary pupils, aged from four to seven years old. The Great Carmo! perfectly captures the spirit of a travelling circus, exciting the imaginations of both children and adults alike.

The forty minute show will tour nursery, primary and special schools throughout Northern Ireland and all that is required is an empty space on a floor in each school to tour to.

It's the first time that the Lyric has co-produced a children's show with Cahoots NI and Paul McEneaney commented: "It's great to be collaborating on a production for the Lyric, who have a huge tradition of producing quality children's theatre. We're going to have a lot of fun working on the show, and I know the schools are going to have just as much fun watching!"

Gilly Campbell, Drama Officer, Arts Council of Northern Ireland added: "It's fantastic that public funding has enabled the Lyric and Cahoots to collaborate and bring this production to schools in Northern Ireland. The Arts Council supports the belief that all children should have access to quality artistic programmes, which both of these organisations are committed to delivering."

Produced by the Lyric Theatre and Cahoots NI, The Great Carmo! is on tour from 29 November to 18 December 2010 and to bring the show to each school costs 500 for 2 shows or 625 for 3 shows; with up to 100 children per show attending each performance.
