New opening hours for local libraries

Many libraries across Northern Ireland will be operating new patterns of opening hours from Monday 2 November.

Both Lurgan and Brownlow libraries will be impacted by the changes, which were proposed earlier in 2015.

In May of this year, the Libraries NI Board agreed the policy for library opening hours and the new total weekly hours were then announced to customers.

Customers across the network of 98 public libraries were then consulted at a local level - to identify and agree the most suitable pattern of opening hours for each library.

The consultation has now been completed and the new weekly timetables have been published.

Under the amendments, Brownlow Library will open from 10am to 5pm on Mondays; 10am to 7pm on Tuesdays; 10am to 5pm on Wednesdays; close on Thursdays; and open from 10am to 4pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Meanwhile, Lurgan Library will open from 9:30am to 5:30pm from Monday to Friday, with a late opening of 8pm on Tuesdays. The library will then open from 9:30am to 5pm each Saturday.
