Guild members learn about the life of a toastmaster

After the minutes were read, adopted and signed, Treasurer Molly Wilson gave her report, detailing how £75 from the Guild’s ‘charity jar’ will be donated to the Parkinson’s Disease charity.

Members were reminded that a felt making craft class will take place on March 13 (1pm - 3pm) at Seaview Presbyterian Church.

Business concluded, guest speaker Albert Gillespie was warmly welcomed to the meeting. He spoke enthusiastically about his involvement as a toastmaster, from his inception into the role in 1950, travelling through the years officiating at top tables throughout the land at varied institutions and venues. In a fascinating presentation, Mr Gillespie revealed how he dined with the Queen in 1966 and also met former US President Bill Clinton.

A question and answer session followed, and June Cosgrove thanked Albert for his time and sharing his interesting life with the Guild.

Margaret Robertson closed the meeting, reminding the Guild about the AGM and Bring and Buy Sale on March 20.
