Grainne appeared in Ballymoney last year as guest artist with Ronnie Greer and this time she is back with her own band, for what is sure to be one of the highlights of this season’s programme!

Grainne Duffy is a unique talent, raw and powerful, edgy and elegant. Growing up in County Monaghan, she gained exposure at an early age to such defining influential artists as the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin and The Pretenders by raiding her elder sisters’ record collection.

Grainne has an intense understanding of the blues and she also brings a great deal of soul to her music. Her voice and her playing are inspired by the wellsprings of Memphis and Chicago but Grainne also reflects the rich varieties of the Celtic experience.

Over the summer, Grainne and her band have played many of Europe’s leading festivals including the Blue Balls Festival, Lucerne, Switzerland, the Aosta Blues Festival, Italy, the Notodden Festival Norway as well as many other festivals in the UK.

“In a world of chick rockers Duffy is the real deal. Grainne Duffy has exploded and it’s obvious why; classic hooks, high cheekbones, a bad-girl voice box and a whiff of Bonnie Raitt”. Classic Rock Magazine

“There are flavours of Bonnie Raitt in this superb young Irish blues singer with a strong pop-soul sensibility”. The Independent “A blues singer of real integrity.” The Sunday Times

The performance begins at 8pm. Tickets £9, concessions £7 are available from Ballymoney Town Hall 028 2766 0230. For more information on Grainne, visit her website www.grainneduffy.com
