VIDEO: Adrian Lewis hits Jackpot with a nine-darter in SSE Arena

Adrian '˜Jackpot' Lewis created history by becoming the first player in Premier League history to hit a nine darter on the Belfast stage.

The perfect leg came against James Wade and Lewis went on to win the game 7-5.

‘Jackpot’ raced to a 4-1 lead but his finishing deserted him allowing Wade to take four legs on the bounce.

Lewis kicked off the ninth leg with a 180, he followed up with a 177 as the noise levels rose, Jackpot hit two treble 20’s to raise the expectations of the capacity crowd before he hit double 12 to raise the roof.

"I was thinking to myself I was 4-1 up comfortable and finishing really well then the next three or four legs I couldn't hit a double," said Lewis.

“Wadey took out a massive 121 to go 5-4 up and I thought ‘Come on Aidy this is your chance hit him with everything you have got.’

“Did I expect a nine darter? No I just thought have a massive leg and I end up going out with a nine darter.

“I hit the 180 and thought come on and then I hit the 177 and when the first dart went into the treble 20.

“It's perfect I'm not going to miss this then another one followed then the double 12.

"It's alright hitting a nine darter when your miles in front but to hit one when you are 5-4 down it's a different story."

It was Lewis third nine darter of the week.

"I hit one in the practice room and one on the Pro tour at the weekend as well and I'm enjoying myself."

It was the first nine darter in the Premier League for four years.

"I'm over the moon and you could see that from my celebration, I was expecting the nine darter I was thinking 11 or 12 but to get a nine in front of this crowd was unbelievable.

"I just thinking win the leg it will be 5-5 then break the throw but once you do it you don't know what your doing.

“The crowd are cheering and I followed with two treble 20s to put him on the back foot again."

The win consolidated Lewis place in the top four.

"The last few weeks I've been getting points but I haven't been fantastic.

Phil Taylor continued his relentless march towards the O2 with a 7-5 win over Raymond van Barneveld.

The Power extended his lead at the top of the table to four points after Michael van Gerwen drew 6-6 with Gary Anderson, with Robert Thornton and Barney also picked up wins.
