OLYMPIC GAMES: Alan Campbell cruises through single sculls qualifying in Rio

Coleraine's Alan Campbell cruised through the men's single sculls heats as the Rio 2016 rowing got under way in Copacabana on Saturday.

The first sportsperson from Northern Ireland to compete at four Olympic Games, the 33-year-old started his campaign at the Lagoa on Saturday morning.

Campbell was the first rower from the United Kingdom in action and eased into Tuesday’s quarter-final, winning his heat in 7 minutes 8.31 seconds.
