Nine-year-old Carrick golfer Joel McKimm is gearing up to tee off in next week’s U.S. Kids European Championships in Scotland.
It’s the third year in a row the Carrick GC player has competed at the event.
The Woodlawn Primary School pupil (inset) heads to East Lothian on Sunday May 24 to begin his preparations for the competitive action which kicks off on Tuesday, (May 26). “I just can’t wait to get started,” he said.
Carrickfergus GC round-up
Saturday’s competition at Carrickfergus GC was for the second Monthly Medal and Frank Brown qualifying.
The winner was Colin Murphy who carded an excellent nett 65. Low handicap winners were Tommy Walker (nett 67) and Ricky Pedlow, Glen Williams and Craig Addley (all nett 68). High handicap winners were A. Moore (nett 66), J. Fulton (nett 66), Paul Gibney (nett 67) and C. Lunn (nett 68).
Richard Moore won the Gross Prize with a score of 73. Jim Livingstone won the Super Seniors with 34 points.
The Mixed Foursomes team narrowly failed to qualify at Massereene but the Ulster Cup team beat Fortwilliam to progress to the third round.
