Table-topping Mossley Ladies swept to a thumping 9-0 win at Carrick Ladies on Saturday.

The home side went into the Senior Two match full of confidence, having shocked title-chasing Dromore 1st XI with a 1-1 draw in their last league outing. But they had no answers for the Glade girls who produced a goalfest at the Amphitheatre.

Carrick, who were recently on the end of a confidence-sapping 5-0 drubbing at Omagh, just couldn’t stop the Mossley juggernaut. It was the host’s sixth league defeat in 10 games and it’s one they will want to forget quickly.

Lauren McKee bagged and hat-trick while former Larne Ladies player Zoe Purdy scored twice. Sophie McDowell also landed a brace, and Nicola McMillen and Laura McCowan netted the others.

Carrick must now prepare for this weekend’s trip to Roughfort to face Owls (Saturday, 1pm) when they will be aiming to avenge an opening-day 3-0 defeat to the Mallusk girls.

Things weren’t much better for Greenisland Ladies on Saturday as they went down 6-0 to Priorians. Still without a win this season, they are rooted to the foot of the Senior Two table and things won’t get any easier this weekend when they welcome, yes, you’ve guessed it, Mossley Ladies on Saturday.
