Galacticos whitewash Kitson’s Alpha team

Carrick and District Pool League: There was no stopping Greenisland Galacticos in this week’s round of games as they whitewashed Mark Kitson’s Alpha team 14-0.

Johnny McKay, Paul Harris, Chris Carson and manager Derek Whiteside completed well-taken hat-tricks, while Trevor Whiteside pocketed a fine brace.

League leaders The Swift played host to stablemates The Warriors and made short work of the match, winning both sessions 5-2. Rab Butler and Dee Irwin were on song with trebles.

Doagh Weapons were 5-2 down at the break against Hugh McMurtry’s Cowboys but hat-tricks from Rab McCullough and Iain Britton, together with a brace from Jeff Moore, helped them to an 8-6 victory.

In Monkstown, Hitmen and Her drew 7-7 with Scorpions. Best for the hosts - P. Henderson (2/3), A. McMeekin (2/3), and for the visitors, C. Rafferty (2/3) and J. Thompson (2/3).

Whitehead Spartans eased to an 11-3 victory over Teddy Bears. S. McWhirter, K. English and R Hawkins landed hat-tricks in the win.

Whitehead Trojans secured a 9-5 victory over Greenisland Working Men’s Club. In what was a strong team performance, S. Hamilton recorded a treble and C. Hobson and G. Fitzsimmons chipped in with doubles.

Elsewhere, hosts Eastway ran out 10-4 winners over Greenisland Colts thanks to hat-tricks from R. Whiteside and L. McCord.
