Graeme Irwin was delighted with his performance at Hawkstone Park at the weekend in the penultimate round of the MX Nationals.
The Carrick rider took the Heads and All Threads Suzuki to victory in both races, moving from fourth into second in the championship.
He now lies eight points behind the series leader Kristian Whatley with the final round at Canada Heights on September 19 and 20.
“I was 3.8 seconds faster than anyone else in qualifying and I can tell you that is some achievement in itself,” he said. “In the opening race I was second off the line and passed Whatley on lap one. I just rode my own race to the finish.
“In race two I was third away and passed Brad Anderson at turn two before passing Whatley on the same lap. I just checked out to take my second win of the day. Everything ran smoothly for a change and it is great to finally have something good to report.
“The final round is at Canada Heights in five weeks and my next race is four weeks away so I am going to train hard and hopefully finish the season on a high.”
