IRISH LEAGUE: Decision expected on Danske Bank Premiership relegation dispute

Warrenpoint Town pursued arbitration after losing their appeal against the Irish FA’s decision not to impose a points deduction on Carrick Rangers after former manager Gary Haveron incorrectly served a ban.

The arbitration decision is due to be announced by Sports Resolutions UK on Monday.

Haveron did sit out a three-game ban, but was in the dugout for his club’s match against Dungannon Swifts on April 23 when he should have been suspended.

An IFA Disciplinary Committee decided against punishing Carrick, stating it had exercised its discretion in the matter.

Warrenpoint lost a subsequent appeal before pursuing arbitration.

It means new dates have been set for the relegation/promotion play-offs.

If Warrenpoint’s appeal is rejected, Ballinamallard United’s second leg with Institute will take place at Ferney Park on Wednesday – the Fermanagh club lead 2-1 from the first leg at Drumahoe.

However, if Warrenpoint’s appeal is successful and Carrick are relegated, the Milltown club will be in action on Wednesday in a play-off first leg against Institute at Drumahoe with the second leg taking place on June 27.
